Off-loading a diabetic ulcer

One of the best ways of taking pressure off a ulcer on the foot is an off-loading pad.  This can be done with a gel pad or a felt pad.  The reason many times an ulcer does not heal is because there is too much friction and force on that area.  Here is an example of a felt off-loading pad that was taped to the foot of a patient to reduce the pressure around the ulceration.  Hopefully this will help reduce the pressure along with the patient staying off the foot.

The big challenge with felt on the bottom of the foot is that it can move around or it also can not be put on daily.  If not used the ulcer can take much longer to heal.
