How is your pressure?

Here is an example of a patient with a history of a foot ulcer that went on to an amputation.  As you can see the arrow marks to an area that has developed a callus and is very close to another ulceration.  This is because the pressure distribution on the bottom of the foot is abnormal due to the amputation.

Solution: This patient needs to be in a diabetic shoe with amputation fill like this one.  As well this person should have regular podiatry visits for evaluation in the office.  Once an amputation happens they are at greater risk of another soon.
